Bulk Carriers honored by THRSCA for building a diverse workforce.

Bulk Carriers, a leading transportation and logistics company, has been honored by the Trucking Human Resources Sector Council Atlantic (THRSCA) for its outstanding work in building a diverse and inclusive workforce.

The award recognizes Bulk Carriers' comprehensive initiatives to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across all levels of the organization. The company has implemented a multi-faceted approach to cultivating a culture of belonging from targeted recruitment programs to attending career fairs.

"We are thrilled to receive this prestigious honor from THRSCA," said Kevin McKellar, Vice President - People and Culture at Bulk Carriers. "Diversity is not just a buzzword at our company, it's a core value that we live by every day. We believe that drawing from various backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives makes us a stronger, more innovative organization."

Some of Bulk Carriers' key diversity and inclusion programs include:

  1. Attracting, developing, and retaining a premier workforce, from the broadest possible pool, to meet our business needs.
  2. We invest in comprehensive training programs, state-of-the-art equipment, and supportive work environments to ensure all employees feel valued and empowered at every step.
  3. Standardized recruitment practices – ensure consistent & equitable recruitment.

Over the past several months, Bulk Carriers (P.E.I.) Limited has introduced a new and innovative way to pay our long-haul truck drivers. For years, the industry standard has been to compensate long haul drivers by the mile, essentially saying that if they are not driving, they are not earning any money - for themselves or the company.  We broke the mold and now pay our drivers by the hour. Our drivers now experience that time is their money.
